In the exciting and quickly evolving online games world, we’ve been keeping busy, launching our first Facebook game application (Zapapa Games) and several titles for the iPhone and iPod touch as well as the iPad. We’ve even begun a partnership with Hyves, the top Dutch social networking site, to bring our game portfolio to their 8 million platform users. On Hyves, we also launched our first game featuring virtual currency: Walhalla Bingo. In this game, players can buy Walhalla Credits with their credit card, PayPal account, iDEAL, or mobile phone.

We are looking for a:
LINUX APPLICATION ENGINEER
As part of the System Engineering department, you will:
- Work closely with the System Engineers to ensure application performance;
- Work closely with the (Polish) Development department, maintaining a strong working relationship and ensuring that delivered applications meet our guidelines;
- Be the main point of contact for Project Management, guiding the roll-out process and ensuring swift and prompt releases;
- Be responsible for the roll out of middleware applications onto our clusters;
- Streamline the entire roll-out process: from development, to staging, to going live;
- Maintain the hosting guidelines, making sure they reflect recent market developments and meet developer needs;
- Work constantly on improving the roll-out process, focusing on quality and reliability.
Your profile:
- HBO/Bachelor’s level education
- Minimum 3 years of related experience; fluent in the technology domains of both IT infrastructure and applications
- Exceptional knowledge of Red Hat Linux OS; hands-on system administration experience is mandatory
- Good knowledge of middleware (PHP, Python, Perl), web servers (Apache, Lighttpd, Nginx), and caching tools (Memcached, APC, XCache)
- Previous experience in supporting, including optimizing and troubleshooting, PHP applications
- Strong background in application optimization and management solutions; hands-on experience in designing and implementing them
- Solid background in hardware (Dell, HP) support and troubleshooting
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to structure sophisticated problems and trace them back to the root
- Detail-orientated, focused, and task driven
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; a team player
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English
- Self-motivated and responsible; the ability to prioritize under challenging workloads and operation under time constraint is crucial
